IMG_7584 (Medium)IMG_7585 (Medium)Here are my other two Bird crazy cards as promised. I enjoyed creating the backgrounds for these ones ( recipe on previous post) and I love the bottom background which was created with 4 different colours of distress ink.Its a public Holiday here today for Australia Day,so I have spent some of the morning tidying up my craft desk, and getting all my gear together ready for the retirement village lesson on saturday. My usual helper can’t make it to this lesson so I have to be super organised – the ladies will keep me on my toes! Til tomorrow…..

IMG_7582 (Medium)IMG_7583 (Medium)It’s Bird Crazy time !I stamped the bird images onto watercolour paper and coloured with distrss inks, and then fussy cut out. The main reason I wanted to show these cards ( and the two following tomorrow) was for the backgrounds. I taped my watercolour card onto my craft mat with some low tack tape – I used washi tape and this step was done to give the white border around the card. I coloured the whole piece with a light shade of distress ink and sponge, and then stenciled through with darker inks using a variety of stencils. If you don’t have stencils you can use the negativeĀ  waste from your die cuts, which I have been known to do! For the bottom card I die cut some letters for the Be Cool. When your inked background is finished remove the washi tape, ( Slowly so the card doesnt rip). Til tomorow….

IMG_0706 (Medium)IMG_0710 (Medium)Here are the last two Bird crazy cards for now. I have made some more since making these – I can’t help it – I love the humour. The top one was done with lots of stamping and masking to get the group scene, and coloured lightly with distress inks and a paintbrush, and the bottom one was made just for me feeling sorry for myself at the time when I couldn’t do anything before my knee operation. It cheered me up (and I have since stuck a banner saying thinking of you over my play on words in the top corner). This one is a little different because I made the background, something I have done a lot of lately because I love getting out my stencils, inks, blending sponges, stipple brushes, stamps and just mixing colours together to see what works . One good thingĀ  – I have had a lot of time in the craft room to just try things, going to miss that when I go back to work!Til tomorrow..

IMG_0704 (Medium)IMG_0705 (Medium)Another 2 cards made with Tim Holtz crazy birds stamp sets, and these ones were inspired by my fellow teacher Kasia Leach.I added my own little touches such as the messy painting behind the bird in the bottom card – that was achieved with a stampin up stamp set and some splashes of water. I coloured the birds with distress inks and a paintbrush, they were stamped onto watercolour paper, and the card bases are stampin up cardstock.Another hot day here, but I have finally moved almost permanently into the craft room, so a sign I am feeling much better! Til tomorrow…..

IMG_0707 (Medium)IMG_0709 (Medium)Stampers anonymous along with Tim holtz have released a set of stamps that totally appealed to my sense of quirkiness. There are a few different stamp sets in the collection, and I have Bird Crazy,Crazy talk and Crazy things. The birds set have 6 different birds, and the things have lots of accessories for the birds, such as the glasses, birthday hat, balloons and presents in these two cards. These are the first couple of cards I made, and after these two I really let my imagination go as you will see over the next couple of days! now the nitty gritty – the images were stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with distress inks and a wet paintbrush, then fussy cut out and stuck on white stampin up cardstock, before being mounted on my card bases ( also stampin up cardstock.) The pine cone in the top corner of the christmas card is a stampin up stamp.Yesterday was so hot here, 40C and today is going to be the same. When it’s this hot there is nothing much we can do except sit under the cooling duct – I will get a bit of reading done today!Til tomorrow….
