Not so Shabby Chic…

_MG_2986 (Medium) I have been experimenting with Shabby Chic, and although I really still haven’t mastered the whole “rip the paper” technique ( too fond of paper to willfully rip it!)I have been teaching my experiments every month at Paper Flourish. This card is one of two we did a couple of months ago. I will pop up its partner next post. For this one we took a white sheet of cardstock and coloured it with Antique Linen distress oxide ink and stamped over it with a Darkroom Door French script background stamp, distressed the edges and inked with tea dye ink. Cut diagonally and roll those inner edges in and ink again.Add lace, string of pearls, flowers and die cut leaves. Some of the leaves and flowers are coloured with a spray we made with Tumbled glass re-inker ( just a drop in a spray bottle topped up with water) and a small scoop ( just a smidgeon!) of gold mica powder .Give it a good shake before use. Today is going to be a crafty day… I am working on a technique to teach in september and continuing on with cruise card ideas, and of course my mind is starting to drift towards Christmas card ideas! Til tomorrow…..

embossing and die cutting…

_MG_4617 (Medium)_MG_4620 (Medium)I think Dry embossing ( using your die cutting machine to emboss with embossing folders) is making a comeback, and for me it never went! It is the easiest way to add texture without excess weight to your cards. The two cards I am showing today were cards that I taught in a class at paper Flourish, using my favourite pastel shades and a good dose of white. Both Embossing folders are kaisercraft brand, Uniquely Creative Stamen stem die on the bottom card, and pre made flowers on the top card. The Happy Birthday is a kaisercraft die. I spent a lovely day yesterday in the craft room, it was so cold here in Adelaide, too cold to do anything else. I put all my projects to one side and just sat and created, great fun!.Today I am off to our craft and chat group , looking forward to catching up with everyone, and getting a start on my cruise cards. Til tomorrow…..

Mums Birthday card..

_MG_4594 (Medium)It is my mums birthday, and this is the card I have made for her, although to be completely open and honest, once this photo was taken I added a couple more flowers ( in white) in the left hand bottom corner! It is all done with my Go Press and Foil machine, including the foiled embossed background. The butterfly is foiled on acetate, and I foiled the sentiment as well. a bit of layering and lace, ribbon and flowers and this one is ready for giving to Mum today. Yesterday was spent  ( after a two hour trip to Bunnings to purchase various garden items for Nathan and house paint for me) in the craft room preparing all of June lessons. Glad they are organised because I really have to concentrate on the craft fair in June now. I am looking forward to an enjoyable afternoon at Paper Flourish ( where our on line shop goes live on Tuesday!) with my craft and chat group. til tomorrow…..

Couture Creations C’est la Vie..

_MG_9393 (Medium) Before I went Cruising I bought some papers, dies and embossing folders by couture creations from their Cest La vie range. I didn’t get much time to play with all my new buys, but did manage  a few quick makes. This card was the first one ..I think you can always tell my first card made from any range as it’s always quite simple and it is really just a testing out of how the colours work together. I added some lace and twill ribbon and one of my gorgeous resin frames which are getting very few in number..If anyone knows where I can get more of these please let me know!Til tomorrow….

Go Press and Foil Card

_MG_9424 (Medium)I am back from my cruise and the time has just flown by! We had a very rough crossing to Tasmania, luckily I didn’t suffer from seasickness but many people did. I had full classes though, and met some lovely ladies, and a few gentlemen!Once we arrived in Tasmania the weather was lovely and cool, a welcome change from here in Adelaide. I have come back to the heat and really will be glad when the cooler weather arrives. Todays card is a card i made using lots of elements foiled with my Go Press and Foil machine ( couture creations). There is a bit of embossing with folders from Kaisercraft just using my big shot die machine, then onto the foiling…. The wooden Rose is by Kaisercraft, the Happy Birthday is chipboard by Dusty attic, and both are foiled with deep red foil through the go press. The oval is also foiled and it is a couture creations stamp, specifically made for the foil machine. I finished my card off with a little bling and a ribbon bow. Til tomorrow…..

_MG_4262 (Medium)_MG_4263 (Medium)Today we are back to cards, and these are the final two cards I have made using My Minds Eye In Bloom papers. I made my favourite double zig zag cards and relied solely on the papers with just a couple of ribbon bows and some glitter. I die cut the sentiment with Kaisercraft all occasions die.Today is a public holiday here and i have kept the day free to be able to spend some relaxing time in the craft room. All week we have been opening many boxes of new stock at Paper Flourish and I couldn’t resist…I have quite a few new things to create with ..so without further ado  I am off to the craft room!! Kaisercraft Romantique…shabby..

_MG_4253 (Medium) I really haven’t had the time to play with this collection, but I have made a few for you to see. It’s the Kaisercraft Romantique collection and it lends itself beautifully to the whole Shabby Chic style, a style I will embrace once I get over the whole ripping my paper hang up I have! Here, I have layered a few of the 12 x 12 patterned papers, and fussy cut an acetate butterfly – in this collection there is a whole sheet of these butterflies and I love them! The leaves are die cut with creative expressions dies, and I inked around every edge with Tea Dye distress ink. I tied a big bow and on top of that I glued a Prima flower with dangly bits that I have been holding onto for ages! The top layer of patterned paper has a lacey print but at the bottom of it I added my own lace in a taupe colour ( Stampin Up lace). I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas break, with family and friends, I can’t believe that’s Christmas over for another year! we still have our son home for another few days before he flys back to Sydney next week so the celebrations continue on here ! Til tomorrow….
