Thinking of you..

_MG_2982 (Medium) I made a card with not a bit of patterned paper which is very rare for me! I die cut a large rectangle out of the front of my card, and most of the decorating happened on the card i stuck inside the card. I die cut a tree, and punched a few extra branches in a different colour ( which I also added to the ground around the bench). The bench is a stampin up stamp which I heat embossed in gold. I added a cute little ladybug to the bench. and die cut the Thinking of you words. Well the man is still up on the roof stomping about up there, he has had to stop and start as the rain has been affecting his working but we never complain about rain so he just works around it! I have a late start for work today, but i must go and get organised…til tomorrow…..

Kaisercraft Miss Betty double zigzag..

_MG_3003 (Medium)Sorry I have been missing for a few days, I have been busy with work, creating classes and then the usual running of the household! As we speak there is a man on my roof restoring it, it is old and tired and had developed leaks….something some of us can commiserate with !The Two cards today are made with kaisercraft Miss Betty collection, I keep promising to make a you tube clip showing how to do this fold, and it will get done, Nathan has had a few problems with the cameras, but I think those kinks may be fixed so we shall see.. The sticker sheet that comes with the kaisercraft collections is perfect for doing these cards, they usually have long borders on them that I never know what to do with but they fit perfectly along the thinner zig zag strip. In other news I have taken the first step towards starting my Christmas cards.. I have been out to the shed and collected some christmas papers! I will take it over to mum and dads place today and sit and chat and craft with them.. til tomorrow…._MG_2974 (Medium)

Another Shabby Chic lesson card..

_MG_2987 (Medium)Todays card is another shabby chic that I taught in a lesson. This was one of my first shabby classes and we were concentrating more on distressing and inking our papers. I love the Shabby chic style but I still have issues ripping my paper. I don’t mind distressing though so baby steps! There was another card in this class which I will post next time. The paper I used here is kaisercraft Pen and Ink, and we coloured the butterflies with weathered wood distress ink,and added flowers and die cut leaves. Today is my day off and I am gathering together lots of bits and pieces to turn into tags that i can use on future cards – I have lots of ideas, and I will show you the results! Til tomorrow….

_MG_2984 (Medium)_MG_2985 (Medium)There are two photos of the same card today to show more closely the effect I achieved by die cutting a rectangle from the front of my card to create a window to the inside, so the top image is the open card and the lower image is the same card when closed. A lot of the bits and pieces on this card came from the collectables from the kaisercraft limelight collection, but I added a gorgeous pre- made carnation, some punched leaves, rhinestones and a cute little ladybird. Not so Shabby Chic…

_MG_2986 (Medium) I have been experimenting with Shabby Chic, and although I really still haven’t mastered the whole “rip the paper” technique ( too fond of paper to willfully rip it!)I have been teaching my experiments every month at Paper Flourish. This card is one of two we did a couple of months ago. I will pop up its partner next post. For this one we took a white sheet of cardstock and coloured it with Antique Linen distress oxide ink and stamped over it with a Darkroom Door French script background stamp, distressed the edges and inked with tea dye ink. Cut diagonally and roll those inner edges in and ink again.Add lace, string of pearls, flowers and die cut leaves. Some of the leaves and flowers are coloured with a spray we made with Tumbled glass re-inker ( just a drop in a spray bottle topped up with water) and a small scoop ( just a smidgeon!) of gold mica powder .Give it a good shake before use. Today is going to be a crafty day… I am working on a technique to teach in september and continuing on with cruise card ideas, and of course my mind is starting to drift towards Christmas card ideas! Til tomorrow…..

embossing and die cutting…

_MG_4617 (Medium)_MG_4620 (Medium)I think Dry embossing ( using your die cutting machine to emboss with embossing folders) is making a comeback, and for me it never went! It is the easiest way to add texture without excess weight to your cards. The two cards I am showing today were cards that I taught in a class at paper Flourish, using my favourite pastel shades and a good dose of white. Both Embossing folders are kaisercraft brand, Uniquely Creative Stamen stem die on the bottom card, and pre made flowers on the top card. The Happy Birthday is a kaisercraft die. I spent a lovely day yesterday in the craft room, it was so cold here in Adelaide, too cold to do anything else. I put all my projects to one side and just sat and created, great fun!.Today I am off to our craft and chat group , looking forward to catching up with everyone, and getting a start on my cruise cards. Til tomorrow…..

Making good use of my Die cutting machine!

_MG_4616 (Medium) Although this one looks like a lot of work it is actually deceptively simple..I dry embossed the first layer with a stampin up embossing folder through my big shot machine, and die cut a border, still in white, using a Kaisercraft die . The shoe was also die cut with silver glitter cardstock. Tucked in behind the die cut border is a white die cut circle which I stamped with the birthday sentiment. I die cut some flowers with a Uniquely creative die, and layered pre-made roses in the centres.A pink bow , and finished! I had a great time at the craft fair last weekend catching up with familiar faces and making new friends. I sold a lot of my cards and now I can start filling my boxes all over again, but the next month or so will be concentrated on planning the cruise cards. Til tomorrow…..
