Book Cards..Shabby Chic style..

IMG_0751IMG_0753IMG_0749This week I have been making book cards. These are my new favourite thing to make ,but a word of warning …they use a lot of paper! I didn’t come up with this design, although I did modify it a little bit, one of our talented teachers at paper Flourish taught something similar this week to a group of ladies. I have also made boxes to pop the finished product in and decorated the box as well, and I have included in the box a die cut card stand to stand the book up on for display. now to the nitty gritty… there are 5 layers of card and paper, the bottom layer the card and then 4 layers of papers, getting smaller by a centimetre for each layer. I have done them in a shabby chic style so I distressed and inked all my edges with tea dye distress ink, once the papers are cut and inked I folded them in the centre and then bowed out the pages to curl them. I stuck the layers through the centre fold and put 3d mounting foam on the page edges . It was then just a matter of decoration with ribbon, flowers and various die cutting of leaves and flourishes!. The papers I have used here are from two companies – I have just discovered them and their papers are gorgeous so you will see more of them on my blog. they are Lemoncraft ( the papers here were from their range House of Roses, ) and Stamperia. The bottom photo gives you a better idea of the card upright. For now I am off to teach a retirement village calss, til tomorrow….

_MG_4591 (Medium)Todays card is a card i made with the retirement village ladies. I love layering up shades of colours and pink always looks gorgeous. The die is a spellbinders label die, and after die cutting in white cardstock I ran it through my swiss dots embossing folder..and oldie but goodie…never grows old! Then it was just a matter of gluing on some roses ( from Iam roses) and a ribbon. To glue on the roses I used 450 glue which is a clear fast drying glue perfect for this job! A rainy day here, and I have just got home from work so i am off to have some lunch! til tomorrow…..

Kaisercraft indigo skies picture frame

_MG_4652 (Medium)I had some photo frames in my cupboard, just waiting for the right papers, and as soon as I saw this collection ( Kaisercraft Indigo skies) I knew this was the time to get them out of the cupboard. I used a piece of the 12 x 12 paper for the background and fussy cut a few butterflies to put in the frame. I only glued them by the centres, so that I could fold their wings up.On the left hand frame I added some lace, and leaves, but the one on the right was left a little simpler. There is a die cut flourish on both of them die cut with a Paper Roses die. I hope you enjoy looking at something a bit different from my usual cards! Til tomorrow….

IMG_0026 (Medium)There is quite a bit happening on todays card so we will get right into it! Everything has the edges sponged with Tea Dye distress ink pad. The background layer, bracket shape, and sentiments are from Kaisercraft Madamoiselle 6″ pad, and the layer on top is from the cut apart 12 x 12 paper from the same range. On this piece I used a stampin up fancy corner punch . The foilage is a kaisercraft die, the flowers are from Prima and Green tara, and I also added flat backed pearls, a ribbon bow, fussy cut butterfly ( from the same paper range) and kindyglitz. Til tomorrow…..

IMG_0025 (Medium)This one is a favourite because it has everything on it that I love…Lace, pleated ribbon ( stampin up), gorgeous prima flowers, flat backed pearls and mini foilage ( kaisercraft Die). The papers are from the Madamoiselle collection ( 6″ pad) and the butterfly is fussy cut from a piece of 12 x 12 paper from the same range. We had a very busy day at work yesterday with the huge clearance sale, so today is all about catching up with some work around here, visiting Mum for her birthday, and then into the craft room to make some card orders! Til tomorrow…..

We leave tomorrow so today has been a mad rush to finish packing, and do some shopping for the menfolk ( they have their menu plan written out so they are quite organised!). Today is a good day to finish up with my Kaisercraft Cherry Tree Lane collection. I have enjoyed making with this collection and I do still have some left, so we will revisit it at some stage. The top card is layers of papers from the 6″ pad, with a collectable , lace, ribbon and a hat pin ( by Prima). the lower card  has a die cut Ornate circle ( paper rose) and a collectable. That’s all from me for now, see you all in 2 weeks!

img_2726-mediumAs well as the greens and muted pinks and reds , there was also blue tones in this collection, so I separated out the colours and the next couple of cards are made with the blue tones.  I used the 6″ pad  for the background piece, as well as the die cut bracket, and inked all the edges with tea Dye ink. The bird image is another image from the matching 12 x 12 pull apart sheet. The flowers are from Green Tara, and I punched out some leaves. This card is one of my favourites because I love the mother bird feeding the chick, and it makes a lovely Mothers day card. Our weather here in Adelaide has cooled right down, and we have a little bit of rain too, it’s glorious!I am meeting up with my sister this afternoon to go over our excursion choices for our cruise…it’s really happening!  Til tomorrow….
